  • Language: Italian
  • Moduli: Ugo Dal Lago (Modulo 1) Luigi Cantelli (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Geological Sciences (cod. 8015)

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, the student knows the base concepts of information management, with particular emphasis on the organization of computers and networks, and on digital graphics. The student will be able to apply the basic concepts of cartography and digital cartography. Moreover, he or she will be able to manage simple cartographic applications.

Course contents

  • The first module is composed of two parts. The first one is an introduction to computer science, and is concerned with abstract machines, abstraction levels, and programming languages. The second one is instead about application development by the Python programming language.
  • The digital cartography module, instead, is concerned with the basics of cartography, both from a technical and from a regulatory point of view, with particular emphasis on the numerical and computing aspects.
