  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Sciences and Management of Nature (cod. 8209)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student learn statistical methods both univariate and multivariate concerning biological applications.

Course contents

1 - Software R.
2 - Probability and distributions
3 - Linear Regression and ANOVA.
4 - GLM
5 - Spatial Data Analysis

Readings/Bibliography

- Zuur, Ieno e Smith, Analyzing Ecological Data, Springer

- Iacus S.M., Masarotto G. , Laboratorio di Statistica con R, McGraw-Hill

- Diggle, P., Ribeiro, P.J., Model-based Geostatistics. Springer Series in Statistics

Teaching methods

Each argument will be faced by following the steps below: 1) theory explanation 2) analysis of data on biological datasets

Assessment methods

Final examination consists in an oral presentation on a real environmental problem that might be solved using R-software. The oral discussion on achieved results with will be linked with the theoretical part.

Teaching tools

All lessons will concern: a) theory explanation b) applications on environmental datasets with software R
