Learning outcomes

Student increase and strengthen their algebraic knowledge of basic and advanced topics, acquire and are able to use new notions and results which, in addition to their intrinsic importance, support other areas of mathematics.

Course contents

Introduction to the theory of finite-dimensional Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.

Teaching methods

During the lectures students will be encouraged to take part in the discussions.
Every week students will be given some exercises that the following week some students will solve and explain in front
of the others.

Assessment methods

For students who take part in the solution of the exercises in classroom the final  exam will be oral. For
students who do not attend the lectures the exam will  be both written and oral.

Teaching tools

All the material related to the course will be available on a web page dedicated to it. This page will contain the content of every lecture, the exercises proposed to the students, the indication of reference texts, and the exams calendar.
