31918 - Theoretical Physics 2

Academic Year 2017/2018

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Physics (cod. 8025)

Learning outcomes

The student acquires notions and methods to describe relativistic particles with spin in first quantization, considering in particular the role played by supersymmetry and by constrained hamiltonian systems.

Course contents

Supersymmetric quantum mechanics.
Grassmann variables.
Path integrals for fermionic systems.
Mechanical models for particles of spin 0, 1/2 and 1, and their quantization.
BRST quantization.
Heisenberg-Euler effective action.
