Historical Archive

The archive collects, in a systematic method, the documentation produced and received by the offices since 1860, though the oldest papers date to the 13th Century.
Also preserved are the correspondences coming from Universities around the world for the celebration of the eighth and nineth Centenaries of the University's founding.

The photography archive holds circa 50,000 images since 1865 up to the present which illustrate university life in its various aspects. A rich picture gallery displays portraits of scientists and scholars, not only from Bologna, which date back to the period from the 16th up to the 18th Century.

The library annexed to the archive contains 7,000 volumes, tracts and journals.

The student European museum is dedicated to the history of the presence and the life of the students in the Universities of Europe.
