Collegio superiore

The Collegio Superiore is an institution of the University of Bologna created with the aim to select youths particularly motivated in their studies and to promote educational itineraries of an interdisciplinary nature.
Presentation
The Collegio Superiore is an institution of excellence of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. It was established to promote advanced interdisciplinary training programmes.
A short history
The Collegio Superiore was founded in 1998 following a decision by the University of Bologna, under Rector Fabio Alberto Roversi Monaco. The Collegio was initially called "Collegio d'Eccellenza", which was changed to the present name of Collegio Superiore when the first regulations were drawn up in 1999. In September 2001, under Rector Pier Ugo Calzolari, the Collegio Superiore acquired full accounting and administrative autonomy and took on the name of Collegio Superiore Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
Teaching activities
The teaching and training programme of the Collegio has the main objective of "exposing" the Students of the Collegio to disciplines which may not be at all related to their chosen course.  The teaching activity of the Collegio is made up of a three year period and a specialisation period.  It is based on training curricula, courses and seminars. Attendance of the Collegio courses is compulsory.
Admission to the Collegio
The Collegio Superiore of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna is an institution based on the principle of equal opportunities.Admission to the Collegio is exclusively merit based. The selection is annual, through a series of exams, and is open to all Italian and foreign citizens, irrespective of economic conditions and previous academic results.
