Radiological and Histopathological Sciences
The Department is articulated in 5 sections corresponding to the diverse advanced degree plans.
"V. Bollini" Section of Diagnostic Imaging-research activities in all ambits of the sections competence are carried out: conventional radiodiagnostics, computerized tomography (CT), diagnostic and intervention angiography, magnetic resonance (MR), ecography.
"M. Malpighi" Section of Anatomy, Histology and Pathologic Cytology-practical application of macro- and microscopic optics exam with the aid of ancillary techniques such as immunohistochemistry, on-site hybridization, PCR and various blotting systems, orientating the research in particular towards neoplastic pathology with immunocytochemistry, cytofluorometrics and molecular biology.
"L. Galvani" Section of Radiotherapy-the Section of Radiotherapy carries out experimental research in the line of radiobiological on normal human cellular behaviour and neoplastics subjected to radiation; in the realm of applied clinical research it explores the field of hematology, that of orthopedic pathology, gynecologic pathology and tumors of the head and neck.
"C. Polvani" Section of Health Physics-the Section of Health Physics performs, among other activities specific control functions for the University of Bologna. Section of Nuclear Medicine-has at its disposal a PET centre equipped with an MeV cyclotron and a PET pharmacy that contains an autonomous Section dedicated to research; it is possible, therefore, to experiment with new PET radiopharmacy in addition to the development of clinical research in the fields of cardiology, neuroscience and oncology.
