Physics

The Department of Physics of the University of Bologna is an interfaculty department with teaching and research personnel from the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Industrial Chemistry and Education Sciences.

The research activities of the Department are connected to the following lines of research: Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Material Physics, Biomedical and Health Physics, Solid Earth Physics, Fluid Earth Physics, Teaching and History of Physics, General Physics, and Physics of Complex Systems.
A research group operates within the department, made up of researchers from INFN (National Institute of Nuclear Physics), INFM (National Institute of Material Physics), INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology), CNR (National Research Council) and ENEA (National Agency for Alternative Energy).
