Paleography and Medieval Studies

The Department of Paleography and Medieval Studies was founded in 1982. Instructors from three Faculties belong to the Department: Letters and Philosophy, Preservation of the Cultural Heritage, Foreign Languages and Literature.

The department is rather complexly configured with regards to research and instruction, being anchored in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, but is not devoid of its transversal vocation with signifies the richness of services and the necessity to respond to various demands-in teaching, library acquisitions, etc.
In the year 2000, a Research Doctorate was activated in Medieval History.
From 2002/03 the Department manages a postgraduate Master's degree in "Culture of Alimentation". The 2nd cycle degree course in "Medieval Cultures and Archives" also is housed in the Department.
