Neurological Sciences
The Department of Neurological Sciences is the academic facility responsible for research, education and healthcare in all aspects of neurology.
The Department's staff includes 22 lecturers and researchers, 85 technicians, nurses, and administrative personnel and numerous research and study grant recipients.
Research activity is undertaken in study centres for specific diseases and specialised laboratories.
The main topics of study include epilepsy, sleep and autonomic nervous system disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases (including transmissible spongiform encephalopathies) focusing on advanced neurophysiological and neurobiological diagnostics and innovative therapeutic strategies.
The Department offers a Research Doctorate in Sleep Medicine, and has specialisation schools in Neurology and Child Neuropsychiatry.
The Department is the main facility for the first cycle degree course for Neuropathophysiology Technicians.
