The Department of Human Anatomy and Physiopathology of the Locomotor Apparatus is involved in teaching activities in the following Faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences and Sciences of Locomotion.
The classes given are both basic and clinical as well as the research activities.
The Department is a unique example in the University of Bologna of a complete complementation between basic and applied activities which eventually end up in an improvement of the health care.
The Department is organised in two Sections: Anatomy and Pathophysiology of Locomotion.
Research interests:
- Topology of signal transduction
- Tumours of the Muscle and Skeletal Apparatus
- Replacement of joints and Repair of large bone defects with the use of bone marrow stromal cells
- Biological reconstruction of the hip
- Nuclear inositol lipid signalling in malignant transformation
- Ultrastructural analysis of mesenchimal organs, of the nucleus and chromosomes
The laboratories are endowed with all the main facilities and equipments, which allow the scientist involved in the research project to achieve a high level of competition in the scientific international community, as underlined by the annual peer review panel.
