Histories and Methods for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage

The Department of Histories and Methods for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage is the result of the collaboration and cohexistence of various fields of research, embodied in 45 among professors (29) and researchers (16).

The main fields of research are: Libraries and Archives; Phenician and Roman Archaeology; Anthropology; Hebrew, Iranian and Byzantine History and Philology; History of Christendom; History of Classical and Medieval Music; Analysis of the Environment and Diagnostics of the damages inflicted on cultural heritage; History of Photography; History of Art and Image Processing for the virtual restoration of objects of art; Geography.
The Department has created a Library, in common with the Faculty of Preservation of Cultural Heritage, of more than 55.000 items and is now in train to organize some laboratories (Archaeology, Anthropology, Music, Photography, Diagnostics, Medieval and Modern Manuscripts) according to the scanty financing in persons and money put at disposal at the present economic situation of the italian University.
