Astronomy
The staff of the Department of Astronomy numbers 11 Professors, 8 Research Assistants, 6 Postdocs, 11 employees in Administration, Labs, and Library.
The Department manages the "Corso di Laurea" and the Doctorate in Astronomy (22 postgraduate students).
Local facilities, the 152 cm Loiano telescope and the Medicina Radiotelescope, are managed by the National Institute for Astronomy (INAF).
The "Specola" museum exhibits ancient instruments.
Research is active in Cosmology, Extragalactic Astronomy, Stellar Evolution and Instrumentation.
The Department has close relationships with INAF institutes active in optical, radio and space astronomy, and wide access to an international network of observing facilities (HST, ESO, VLBI, ...).
