Colour palette
A colour palette has been established to identify the various scientific and disciplinary areas to which each structure is ascribed. The colour palette is used to characterize and distinguish some elements of the University websites interface: headers, homepage headlines and smaller headers for boxes and tables.
Other elements in the pages remain constant, such as headlines and texts, to enhance readability.
Conceptual framework
The University Portal's graphic layout consists of elements which are easily identifiable. All these elements together make up the conceptual framework of reference for all of Bologna University's websites and services:
Of these, the header and the footer are the ones which must be always present and for which the established directions and provisions must be respected.
The area on top to the left of the header is devoted to the institutional logo of the University or Campus. The logo is linkable and points to the related homepage. Each logo is associated with its website depending on the location in which the structure is based: a structure of Bologna University will bear the University institutional logo, whilst a Campus structure will bear the Campus institutional logo.
The header is placed to the right of the institutional logo. The header is the element featuring and distinguishing the University websites and services through a strong coordinated image which conveys and reflects a uniform editorial structure. Headers must be the same height on all websites of the system. The colours in the headers are different in accordance with the various structures and are consistent with the colour palette used. The central section of the header displays the name of the site/service’ and the image representing it.
The navigation bar is placed underneath the institutional logo on the left-hand side. Topic channels are separated with dotted lines to enhance spacing and readability. The bar contains a first level and a second level. The various topic channels may vary from time to time and be chosen in accordance with the specific communication needs of each website. Labelling the topics with the same name, on the other hand, ensures consistency and enhances the sense of a coherent identity for the University.

The footer bar of the page contains Privacy disclaimer and Copyright links and the University address. In addition, there are new elements such as related links and new functions.
