Bologna University logo is available for use by all University structures and is to be used for ordinary teaching, administration or promotional purposes.
The use of Bologna University logo for activities or purposes other than those stated above, e.g. patronages, collaborations or requirements of third parties must always be approved by the Rector. Requests for approval must be addressed to the Rector's Secretariat: segrettore@ammc.unibo.it.
To ensure consistency and recognition, enhancing a strong University identity, Bologna University has had a single official logo version since 2002.
As a core element of the University's graphic identity, the logo will reproduce in a clear manner the symbols and features of the original seal designed by Augusto Sezanne in 1888 and coined on the occasions of the celebrations for University's eighth centenary.
The colour used in Pantone matching system is 1805cv, a particular colour spot in tune with the traditions, atmosphere and aesthetics of the town of Bologna.

Therefore, graphic solutions such as those below must not be used any longer, including the usage of the original seal as a logo.
The full name of Bologna University includes the wording underneath the logo:
ALMA MATER STUDIORUM - UNIVERSITÀ DI BOLOGNA
This name will definitively replace the name: "Università degli Studi di Bologna".
The colour of the wording in Pantone matching system is Cool Gray 10 cv.
The font used for the wording is Trajan, also used in the headlines and major wording of publications, documents and other University materials.
Specific usages of Bologna University logo are designed for the Campus Branches and can be distinguished by the colour applied to the outer band as well as by the name of the town.
