The Alma Mater Foundation was formed in 1996 through the initiative of the University of Bologna with the financial contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Rispamio Bologna.

Alma Mater Foundation is a not-for-profit institution situated in
Bologna.
The Alma Mater Foundation:
- Encourages relations between the University and private and public research centres
- Supports the development and transfer of expertise between the scientific and the business worlds
- Promotes research activity and innovation aimed at the local business network
- Stimulates the creation of new employment opportunities with a strong emphasis on valuing youth initiatives and the demands of society
- Manages complex and transnational projects offering consultation services, assistance, tutoring and assessments
- Creates and distributes an added value to each of its partners
The history of the
Alma Mater Foundation demonstrates the effectiveness of certain guiding values that govern its actions and adequately confront the changes of the modern world.
These very values function as a connection between the Mission, the Strategies, and the singular Activities of the Foundation and are known and shared by internal personnel as well as the Foundation's partners.
