PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE (URP- Relazioni con il Pubblico)

The Public Relations Office of Rimini Campus  promotes communication between the University and the students.
• It is a meeting and welcome point  providing information about the activities and services offered to students, degree courses, right to education, administrative procedures and teaching activities.
• It organizes and promotes orienteering activities at high-schools, during trade shows and cooperates with the Orientation help desk of the University
• It also organizes welcome meetings and provides psychological help (SAP), supported by the Department of Psychology of the University
• It promotes the  services for disabled students offered   by the Campus 
• It publishes leaflets and  information material concerning  academic courses and services for students
• It edits Rimini student’s guide
• It collects comments and complaints in order to ease student’s life and evaluate the efficiency and service quality
• It provides information about the law of access to documents and privacy policy

SCOLARSHIPS

The Rimini Campus of the University of Bologna is able to offer a number of scholarships to students through the Faculties, in collaboration with local city governments, the Province of Rimini, Uni.Rimini (the consortium company that oversees after university interests in Rimini and environs) and other associations.
A range of scholarships of varying amounts is available for shorter and longer periods of time. Information is available through: local newspapers, at http://www.polorimini.unibo.it ,
and in the pages of the various Faculties, on the sites of local city governments, of the Province of Rimini, and of Associations who make scholarships available, on the bulletin boards at the U.R.P office in Via Cattaneo, 17 – 47921 Rimini.


Scholarship for study abroad

The Rimini Campus of the University of Bologna provides scholarships for foreign study available to students and to those who have graduated within the last six months. Awards are given for study abroad and for research (thesis regarding a subject that makes international research necessary).
Information as to how to apply and a list of necessary documentation are available through the Faculties and are publicized through announcements for the awarding of grants. Knowledge of English or of the language spoken in the country is essential.


 

Other information:

The period of time of the award depends on announcement.
The awards are seen as partial financial assistance towards the expenses occurred during the time spent abroad.
Scholarships for thesis research abroad may not be combined with scholarships awarded through the Overseas, Socrates, and Leonard programs. At the end of the period spent abroad the student must produce documentation attesting to the completion of the work for which the award was granted.

Erasmus Programme
EU exchange programme for students who want to spend some time abroad (from three to twelve months), studying, sitting exams and researching at European Universities, partners of the University of Bologna.
Approximate Application deadline:  End of February.
Departure: the next academic year, according to the beginning of the semester in partner Universities

Overseas Programme
International mobility programme towards non –EU countries, where students can spend a semester or full academic year, at Universities in North and South America, Australia and Asia.
Students will be able to attend  classes, sit exams and,  in some partner Universities, they can also research for the final thesis or they can work as Italian-speaking assistants.
Approximate Application deadline: Beginning of November
Departures: the next academic year, according to the beginning of the semester in partner Universities

Thesis abroad
Scholarships granted by each Faculties to students who need to research abroad, topics concerning final thesis. Up to 6 months staying.
Deadlines set by each Faculty.


Agreements with Swiss Universities
The University has signed agreements geared towards encouraging the exchange of students between Italy and Switzerland. This series of mobility programs is coordinated and financed by individual Swiss Universities, with awards to students of the same amount as those available through the Socrates/Erasmus project.


Brown exchange
Brown University offers five scholarships for periods of study at its campus in Providence (U.S.A.) to doctoral candidates, students enrolled in specialization courses and recipients of post-doctoral grants.


Fulbright Program
Fulbright grants are offered to those wishing to attend graduate courses or to conduct research at Universities in the United States.


Summer school and International courses
The summer school are intensive courses o the University of Bologna tought in English language.


LLP / Erasmus Placement
Students can improve  their curriculum through a work experience abroad. The internship period is between 3 and 6 months. Financial aid for students is provided with EU Community funds.


MAE/ CRUI Programme
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the CRUI  offers to students and recent graduated students three months of highly qualified internship at Italian Embassies, Italian Consulates and Institute of Italian Culture abroad.
Deadlines: February, June and October.

UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

The library supplies information services aimed at satisfying the didactic and research needs of the various faculties including Masters courses in Rimini. The resources cover the courses and thematic disciplines contained in the faculties of Biology, Design, Economy, Pharmacy, Medicine, IT, Marketing, Fashion, Education, Psychology, Physical education, Sociology; Statistics, The History of Art, Tourism etc. Tasks of the Library are to buy, classify, improve the library material; to organize and file bibliographic research, and to offer books loan and interlibrary loan service.
The Library has 41000 documents, which are available to all users, many of which lay on open library cases with free access.


Available facilities:
• Music room, where the user can listen to music or to international programmes, read magazines and newspapers in the main European languages.
• 22 computers with internet access to consult many databases and online magazines in subscription at the University. 2 computers are also available for watching DVDs
• 100 seats for studying and consultation
• 2 copy machine and scanner. All copies must be taken in compliance with the Italian law regarding copy right and keeping undamaged any document.

The library belongs to SBN ( National Library System) and ACNP making it possible to access documents in the leading national electronic catalogues open to the general public.

The library site constitutes a privileged point of access to all the bibliographical resources available at the university.

CLIRO

The Language Centre for Romagna Campuses offers a linguistic service to all students and to the University's Staff of Rimini Campus as follows:
-blended modules for the preparation of language tests;
-language courses on demand (Arabs, French, English, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and German);
-courses and international certification like TOEFL;
-Italian language courses for foreign students.
CLIRO evaluates and recognizes language knowledge of the students of Rimini Campus (wuth written tests) as well as of the students involved in exchange programmes; itorganizes courses and international certification like CELI for Italian language, DELF/DALF for French language, DELE for Spanish language, GOETHE for German language, TPKN-TORFL for Russian language, UCLES for English language and from september 2005 TOEFL iBT for American English.
At CLIRO in Rimini there are two laboratories with 30 multimedial seats and one room for self-learning, where students can improve their skills thanks to cd rom and satellite connection. The computers are connected to internet and have a dvd program in order to watch undubbed movies.
Since the beginning the Language Centre has improved a blended system, thanks to the promotion of different multimedia projects; on piattaforma Alfacert E-learning students can take advantage of new method of didactic system (discussion sessions, exercise added to class courses, self-learning, self evaluating tests).

COMPUTER LABS

ASI, the Computer Service Area, is in charge of operation, adjustment and coordination of information system (infrastructure an d services) of Rimini Campus. New services for students, professors, administrative and technical staff are here developed.
Six computer labs are located within the Campus, all available for enrolled students at any degree course of Rimini Campus; about 200 personal computers of last generation, all with internet access.
Garbino is the new  wireless network providing free internet access within the campus.
Thanks to the development and promotion of innovative online services, students can solve on the web net any administrative procedure required during the academic career: application process, exams submission, downloading of training aid, teaching aid, study plan submission, exam registrations and certifications.
E-mail services and newsgroup are available for academic and staff members: professors, researchers, assistants, collaborators, officer and students have any support in exploiting interactive channels of communication.

TEACHING LABORATORIES

Chemical-Pharmaceutical Laboratory
Labs are Available for students, professors and researchers of the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry and Pharmacy.
Labs are equipped with best and updated technologies, and are divided into 3 areas, where it is possible to provide:
 
chemical analysis
pharmaceutical analysis
biological analysis


There are approximately 150 workstations.


Laboratory of Anatomy
A collection of over one hundred structures models of the human body, including plastic preparations modelled after precise anatomical shape: an educational and artistic treasure of great value for the whole municipality.

The collection includes life-size anatomical models, and also enlarged ones, in order to show the finest anatomical structures and functional aspects of the human body. The models have been  made by the prestigious German company Somso, brand leader in the design and development of body parts since 1876.

Microscopes are also available for students for reading the microscopic preparations, together with some educational movies about anatomical preparations on corpse, and several texts and anatomy atlas.

WORK AND UNIVERSITY

The University of Bologna offers students part-time work opportunities in university structures at an hourly wage of euro 7.50.
At the beginning of every academic year students can apply for taking part in the selection of a certain number of part time work opportunities at the University structures. In the selection procedure form will be available on the web site www.er-go.it .

Internship
Curricular training is aimed at students that have to (or want to) carry out a period of vocational training to acquire the University Credits (CFU) required by the course of study or for the preparation at the end of the degree course of the thesis/paper.  In order to take part in a training programme in one of the structures which cooperates with the University, the student has to be authorised by the Training Committee of the Faculty.

Postgraduate training programmes is aimed at recent graduates (within eighteen months of the degree) and training programmes which have as an objective the admission to the State Examination (to qualify for professional practice), for those faculties which provide it

EU STUDENTS
EU citizens, who will be staying in Italy for more than 3 months, are  required to register at the municipality where they will be living. Application requests will be submitted at the registry office (anagrafe) of the residence district, prior phone call to make an appointment

START CUP

The Start Cup prize for innovation was born of a desire to offer assistance to those who wish to transform entrepreneurial ideas with a technological basis into reality by helping facilitate contact between entrepreneurs and industry and finance. The StartCup prize provides support to technological innovations geared towards economic development in an attempt to "make ideas take off." Participants in the competition have an opportunity to deal with the market conditions generally encountered at the moment when a new business is launched.

ALMACUBE

Alma Cube, the University of Bologna's incubator for new companies, is the result of collaboration between the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna and the Alma Mater Foundation geared towards boosting entrepreneurial initiatives born from academic research and experiences. Alma Cube offers logistical support (office space, electrical wiring, phone connections, secretarial services etc.) that permit a newly founded company to gain visibility. Other services include the facilitation of contact with other companies, industrial associations and other important institutions. Alma Cube also works to facilitate encounters between start-ups and potential investors. Alma Cube is closely linked to the StartCup prize for innovation.

SERVICES FOR THE DISABLED

The orange disabilities card, which must be renewed every five years, is recognized all over Italy. Card-holders can drive in areas in the city center usually closed to traffic and park in special parking spaces without regard for the usual time limits. Card-holders may not park in spaces reserved for other special categories (residents of the city center, taxis, etc.). While the "G" parking area in the city center is also off limits (piazza Tre Martiri, Piazza Cavour, Via IV Novembre between Piazza Tre Martiri and Via Tempio Malatestiano, Corso D'Augusto between Piazza Tre Martiri and Corso Giovanni XXIII) for parking, it is possible to make brief stops in the area for the purpose of picking up and dropping off disabled passengers.

Transportation for the Disabled
This service is reserved for people with reduced motor capacities who find it difficult to use public transportation services because of:
problems connected to sitting / standing and moving about in the vehicle;
problems entering vehicles in use in the city;
barriers and obstacles at entrance points to the vehicles.
The service aims to increase access to city structures for diasabled reisdents.
