General Information
Given the young age of its University,
Forlì is not ready "to be up for auction" yet! This is a really amusing game, so to speak, which students have soon to learn and put into practice once arrived, if they want to find a house on rent. After selecting his/her degree course, the student has to get used to live in a flat alone for the first time, for a period of at least 5 years or even more, and often far away from "mum’s home", or he/she has to get used to share thee flat with other "poor little orphans"!
Fortunately, the University in
Forlì offers
a wide range of accommodation solutions which have never disappointed students’ expectations in so far. This has prevented many students to fall into hysterics while calling millions of telephone numbers to find a roof over their head (let’s think for example what happens in
Bologna or Milan for a comparison).
The search for an accommodation should begin
first at ER.GO offices, and then continue with Ser.In.Ar. and, finally, with the
Informagiovani (the students’ information point) and the various
students’ associations which generally provide this kind of service. Associations are often the best way to find a house simply by word of mouth.
We also suggest to begin searching very soon once arrived. First come, first served! Ask for it to friends, acquaintances, and university colleagues: best solutions are usually found in this way, except when you are lucky enough to be admitted to the university list of free beds.
We strictly recommend to start the search as early as August, and to repeat it later on January-February, if you are not satisfied with the current solution. As a matter of fact, during the year mid-term, Erasmus students and graduates may leave their accommodation and extra beds are again "up for the auction"!
If you have a lease with a private landlord,
make attention to the contract terms and conditions (e.g., house expenses and other costs) to avoid a nasty surprise when the "damage" has already been done! You also have to be aware of and demand the respect of all the
lease regulations and obligations by part of your house landlord, such as ordinary and extraordinary maintenance (e.g., make sure that bathroom facilities and other household appliances are hold in proper conditions!). But you have likewise to be respectful to the landlord! For example, don’t stick indelible glue on the walls, don’t leave fragments of your favourite pop-star posters, and don’t make troublesome noises! Parties at home are really amusing, but make sure that you are not annoying your neighbours. In other words, don’t forget the good behavioural and social practice!
And mum will be proud of you!
