In order to benefit from health and medical care services, students from other countries must ask for a "
tessera sanitaria" (health card).
First of all, students must apply to the Municipality offices and take up residence in
Cesena. After this first step, they must turn to the local
AUSL – the Local Health Agency, and demand for a health and medical card. Here students can choose their doctor for general medical care too. In addition to the general medical services, there is also a wide range of specialist solutions, both in the private and in the public service. Besides, the University offers a free psychological service to all students requiring it.

PSYCHOLOGICAL AID FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
For university students, the University of
Bologna offers a free Psychological Aid Service (S.A.P.), organized by the Department of Psychology of the University of
Bologna. The service is aimed to help students with problems due to adaptation to the university environment, stress for study overload, or other psychological difficulties. To ask for psychological aid, students must fill a strictly confidential inquiry form at the
Ufficio Relazioni con il Pubblico (Public Relations Office) located in Viale Europa 596, during the following days: Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri: 9,00 to 11,30 and Tue, Thu: 15,00 to 16,30. Students will be contacted to fix an appointment for the first interview. The service is completely free.
THE HEALTH-CARE CARD
The "
tessera sanitaria" (healthcare card) is strictly required to ask for medical and healthcare assistance from the Italian National Health System (general medical care, specialist’s treatments, and hospitalisation). To obtain the card, students must apply to the local "
Ufficio Scelta e Revoca" and compile a substitutive statement using the official form. Citizens from other Italian health districts must hand over their original card. Citizens from a foreign country must present their residence permit, the identity documents and the "
carta di soggiorno" or their reservation ticket in
Questura (in case the residence permit has not been obtained yet) and other documentation as appropriate.

MEDICAL CARE FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS
As provided for all European citizens, before departure, students must obtain the Form E111 from their National Health System. In order to benefit from medical care within the EU, it is necessary to present the Form E111 (from 1/11/04, the Form E111 is known in Italy as "
certificato sostitutivo provvisorio") to the local AUSL, which will release the necessary documentation allowing students to go to a doctor’s.
INSURANCE COVER
All students enrolled at the University are covered against accidents when attending for "technical-scientific activities or practical experimentations or during work practice", as well as during visits to laboratories, industrial plants, etc. Treatments covered by insurance include: medical and surgical treatments, clinical tests; supply of prosthesis equipments; personal indemnity for permanent assistance; a fixed income for permanent disability; income and indemnity for the family in case of death. All university students are also covered against any accidents, including "on-site" accidents suffered within the university premises, the offices of the Agency for the Right to Study and in any other space/room where students carry out "their study and research activities upon the authorization of the University".
