The Faculty of Statistical Sciences was established following the beginning statistical studies which started in 1954 at the School of Statistics of the University of Bologna.
Today the Faculty represents one of the most advanced Information Centres in Italy in terms of quantitative and interdisciplinary studies.
Scientific and professional careers are based on an integrated methodological training which includes studies into statistics, probability and information science - at the basis of all the Faculty’s study courses -, and economic, business, sociological, demographic and bio-medical studies, characterising the specific areas of the teaching provision: first-cycle degree courses, second-cycle degree courses, Master's degree courses and higher education courses.
The Faculty trains experts in quantitative analysis,
communications, information technology who are very much in demand in the most advanced sectors of scientific research, civil society and welfare industry, the manufacturing sector and business.
To encourage graduate entry on the job market, the Faculty offers every student – at all the academic levels - a wide range of traineeship opportunities, the chance to write up their degree dissertations abroad, international exchange programmes and internship opportunities at the Faculty’s specialised laboratories.
From a scientific and vocational standpoint, the teachers are young, dynamic and highly-qualified.
