The student is given the chance to attend traineeship placements at companies or institutions of his/her choice (the traineeship is organised and approved by the special commission set up by the Faculty board) or one of the post-graduate study courses held by the Faculty in cooperation with companies or institutions. The specialisation courses are normally developed as seminars or workshops and attendance is compulsory. The courses do not set a final examination but only award an attendance and assessment certificate.
General information
What is a traineeship, advantages for the student, links between the University and the job market.
Practical and applied traineeship: the bridge between the University and the job market.
What is a traineeship?
The practical and applied traineeship (150-200 hours) at certified companies, institutions or research centres is held during the third and last academic year of the first-cycle degree courses and represents a fundamental stage in the student’s education process, as well as representing a specific working experience to help orient the student in the job market. The objectives of the traineeship is the assessment of the theoretical knowledge acquired and its application in an experimental project that may refer to materials and/or processes, with particular emphasis on the sector’s continuous technological innovation.
Advantages:
- For the University: the student's education and training process is completed, allowing for an assessment of the skills and knowledge acquired and a professional orientation within the job market.
- For the company/institution/research centre: a direct relationship is established with the University, by implementing a reciprocal "fertilization" process including the possibility of matching the students' skills with the industry needs.
Obligations for the company/institution/laboratory:
None. The acceptance of the traineeship application and the undersigning of the specific agreement between the University and the Company does not give rise to any obligations for the host company or institution. The possibility to offer services to the trainee (e.g. refectory, transport, etc.) and/or the reimbursement of other expenses at the training company or institution’s sole discretion.
Insurance
The student is fully covered by an insurance policy incurred by the University against accidents (INAIL T.U. n. 1124/65) and against any damage to people and/or property (RCT- Milano Assicurazioni - Policy No. 501800)
