The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the University of Bologna was set up by Rector's decree no. 216 dated 28th July 1999 and is situated in via San Vitale n. 15 - 40125 Bologna.
The Faculty of Physical Education comprises a wide range of studies and activities which are aimed at understanding the human body in movement in all its facets: from the biological aspects of motility to sports training techniques; from physical activities for non-competitive purposes to those aimed at recuperating and maintaining good conditions of fitness and health, the achievement of high sporting performance for sports competition, including those for students with disabilities. The academic programme is also aimed at acquiring specific skills and knowledge related to the teaching and training area and to the social-economic organisation of sports activities.
The objective of the Faculty of Physical Education is to provide and transmit an advanced degree of knowledge in various fields related to the human sporting activities in order to meet modern society’s ever-increasing demand for professional skills in this area.
The Faculty's specific objective is, therefore, to train, to university standard sports, coaches, researchers and professionals who operate in activities addressed to achieving and maintaining a good standard of psychological and physical conditions in society, schools, communities, workplaces and in sporting, competitive and leisure activities.
