The CILTA e-learning system offers all the students the chance to improve their second language knowledge using a self-access computerised method, completely free of charge.
The CILTA system is addressed to all students from the Faculties of Industrial Chemistry, Economics, Pharmacy, Law, Arts, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences who need to prove their knowledge of a second language and to pass the language proficiency test, as well as improve their linguistic skills in English, French, German and Spanish at different levels.
CILTA also offers free and optional study programmes, including self-learning activities, together with traditional language classes with qualified native-speaker teachers.
The self-learning study activities can be started on your PC at any time just by going to the Altair Laboratories located in Via Filippo Re no. 2 and no. 10 (Mondays to Fridays, 9.00 am to 6.00 pm).
The traditional lessons are organised into 2 cycles, with the first cycle beginning in October, and the second one in March.
The language skills tests are held at the Altair Laboratory in Via Filippo Re no.10.
During the academic year, three examination sessions are scheduled (with the chance to apply twice per session):
- Winter session: exams are held in January and February;
- Summer session: exams are held in June and July;
- Autumn session: exams are held in September and October.
The test is done on the PC and lasts 1 hour 50 minutes at most. The exam aims to assess the L2 grammar knowledge, as well as listening comprehension skills of the texts that the student will both listen to and read on the PC monitor. The examination consists of a multiple-choice test.
Alternatively, the students can ask for the recognition of their prior language studies from other Faculties or Institutions, by submitting the relevant application form to Altair's Secretariat.
