Academy of Sciences
The Institute of Bologna Academy of Sciences is one of the most famous scientific societies in Europe. Every year about 1500 academics take part in seminars organised by the Academy. The seminars are organised in close cooperation with the University of Bologna to satisfy the need for scientific updates.
The age-old institution annually hosts important scientific events and the participation of Nobel Prize winners is not a rare event especially in the physics, chemistry and biology sectors.
The humanistic section has promoted prestigious international meetings such as the visit in 2002 of the Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha. As regards the cultural heritage section it is important to highlight the presentation of the new cultural heritage code by the Minister Urbani.
Activities
The Academy promotes national and international conventions, conferences and debates. Particular attention is dedicated to the important artistic heritage of the Academy which includes important frescoes by Pellegrino Tibaldi. The academy promotes restoration and history of art courses.
Publications
The Academy publishes original studies in all fields of both the humanistic and scientific sectors. In particular the proceedings of important seminars and conventions are published. A special booklet written by Prof. Ovidio Capitani, Prof. Andrea Emiliani and Dr. Massimo Zini will soon be published with the title: "L'Odissea manierista di Pellegrino Tibaldi nelle storie di Ulisse dell'Accademia delle Scienze di Bologna" (Mannerist odyssey of Pellegrino Tibaldi in the stories of Ulysses at the Academy of Sciences of Bologna).
