Transferring to the University of Bologna

Information, deadlines and methods for transferring from another Italian university to a study programme at the University of Bologna.

Transfer application

If you are enrolled at another Italian university and wish to transfer to a study programme running at the University of Bologna, having chosen your new study programme from the list for 2011-2012, you must present an application to your current university, in compliance with the established methods and deadlines.

Transfer applications, which must include your study programme, will be examined by the Board of the Degree Programme you have chosen.

If you have chosen a single-cycle degree programme or single-cycle 2nd cycle degree programme, the Board will decide whether you are exonerated from the initial exam to assess your prior knowledge.

If you have chosen a second cycle degree programme, the Board will assess whether you possess the curricular requirements and whether you are exonerated from the assessment of your personal knowledge.

For information concerning the assessment methods and the requirements, refer to the sheet relative to the Degree programme you are interested in

Enrolment: deadlines, tuition fees and payment methods

If you have already paid your enrolment fees for a.y. 2011-2012 at your previous university, these cannot be considered by the University of Bologna.

If you are transferring from another university in Emilia Romagna you will not however have to pay the regional tax, if you have already paid it.

Having presented your transfer application, you may enrol by 29/12/2011 (for restricted access programmes the deadline is indicated in the admission notice) at the University of Bologna following the instructions given for enrolment.

When your file sent from your previous university is received by the Student Registry Office of the faculty you wish to enrol in, you will be contacted and given a code for the payment of the transfer fee (150 Euros).

You may pay the transfer fee at any branch of UniCredit Banca S.p.A; you may also pay the fee directly online, using the AlmaWelcome service.

Recognition of previous exams

You will be admitted to study programmes running under the terms of D.M. 509/99 or D.M. 270/04, even if you are transferring from a study programme running under the previous degree programme system. Any previously acquired credits may be recognised by the Degree Programme Board of the faculty you transfer to.

When you present your application for enrolment please make it clear that you have transferred from another Italian university.

Any information concerning the criteria for the recognition of previous credits can be obtained from the degree programme secretariat of the faculty running your new degree programme.

Any previous exams will be recognised by the Degree Programme Board once your academic career history has been received by the Student Registry Office of your new faculty.
