Changing study programme within the University of Bologna

All the information you need on the deadlines and methods for changing from one study programme to another.

Application requirements and general information

Applicants wishing to change programme must have paid the tuition fees for the first instalment of A.Y. 2011-2012.

Students are not permitted to enrol in more than one degree programme, Master degree programme or doctoral programme at the same time.

How to apply to change programme

You may present your application to change programme, addressed to the "Magnifico Rettore" (Rector), completing the degree programme transfer application form (in Italian) and affixing a 14.62€ duty stamp, to the Student Registry Office in your faculty.

Transfer applications, which must include your study programme, will be examined by the Board of the Degree Programme you have chosen.

If you have chosen a single-cycle degree programme or single-cycle 2nd cycle degree programme, the Board will decide whether you are exonerated from the initial exam to assess your prior knowledge.

If you have chosen a second cycle degree programme, the Board will assess whether you possess the curricular requirements and whether you are exonerated from the assessment of your personal knowledge.

For information concerning the assessment methods and the requirements, refer to the sheet relative to the Degree programme you are interested in.

You may present your application from 26 July 2011 to 30 November 2011, unless otherwise indicated in the admission notice for restricted access programmes.

However, the Academic Affairs Manager (or Campus manager, for programmes running at the Romagna campuses) may, after the deadline of 30 November and only for free access programmes, accept later applications which are justified on serious grounds and with the payment of a fine.

Payment of the transfer fee

Send an e-mail to the Student Registry Office of your faculty, requesting the code required to pay the transfer fee (50 Euros). Once you have the code, you may pay the fee online through Almawelcome or at any branch of Unicredit.

Documents required for transfer

The following documents must be enclosed with the transfer application form:

  • receipt of payment of the transfer fee
  • exams record book

On receipt of the application, the Student Registry Office will verify the payment of enrolment fees and check that all exams have been correctly recorded. Your file will then be sent to the Student Registry Office of the faculty you wish to transfer to, and you will be notified.

Your exams will be recognised by the chosen Degree Programme Board.
