Tuition Fees

The enrolment to each academic year requires the payment of the annual tuition fee. All information about tuition fees, terms and conditions of payment and exemption or reduction conditions.



Payment of the first tuition fee instalment 

For the academic year 2011/2012 the payment of the first instalment shall be executed by and no later than

  • September 29, 2011 for students enrolling to the first year of Laurea (First cycle degree/Bachelor - 180 ECTS) or of 1-cycle programme;
  • November 30, 2011 for students enrolling to the first year of a second-cycle or postgraduate degree programme .

For the enrolment to the academic years following to the first year, the deadline for the payment of the first instalment is fixed to the date September 29, 2011 for all typologies of degree programmes.  

The due amount for the first instalment is of Eur. 600.00 for first-cycle degree programmes and of Eur. 910.00 for the second-cycle or postgraduate degree programmes (including 1-cycle programmes).

The payment of the first instalment beyond the terms here specified implies the charging of a penalty for late payment, which is defined on annual basis by the Academic Bodies.

The deadlines for the payment of the first instalment only relate to the enrolment to the free-access degree programmes. For the degree programmes with restricted admission, the deadlines are set up by the relevant competition for admission (programmed numbers).

Further information about enrolments to the academic years following the first year is available for students already enrolled to Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna.

Students (whether first-year students or students enrolled to the following years) may opt for the payment of the annual tuition fee in a single instalment by and no later than September 29, 2011 (November 30, 2011 for students enrolling to the first year of a second-cycle or postgraduate degree programme), receiving a reduction of Eur. 100.00 on the total amount. Students may also opt for the payment into 1 instalment in the period from October 1, 2011 to  December 29, 2011, including the payment of the relevant penalties. After December 29, 2011, student can not opt for the payment into 1 instalment.



Deadline for the payment of the following instalments

Students who did not opted for the payment into 1 instalment must comply with the deadlines set up for the following instalments:

  • December 22, 2011
  • May 15, 2012

To each instalment a cost of Eur. 4.00 shall be charged.

Each of this deadline is subject to the payment of a penalty of Eur. 50.00 for the delayed payment within 7 days from the deadline and of Eur. 100.00 for the delayed payment beyond 8 days from the deadline. 

Each student shall be subject to controls about the execution of due payments, shall be required to pay for any outstanding instalments  or shall receive a reimbursement.



Freezing of the academic career

The student not complying with the payment of the annual tuition fee – also in terms of single instalments - must not complete, execute or attend for any university activity, nor can he/she require for the release of academic certificates; in addition, students not complying with the due payments shall not be admitted to the single exams   and to the final examination.



Tuition fee for students who have exceeded the academic terms

Starting from the year 2009/2010 no reduction over the tuition fee is established for students who have exceeded the academic terms. These students shall pay for the same annual tuition fee defined for all other regular students.



Exemption from tuition fees and due amounts

Every year , this University offers to all students the opportunity of obtaining a reduction on the total due amount for the tuition fee.
Students must comply with specific economic and merit requirements to access to scholarships, total exemption and to one of the five categories of partial exemption.

Method of payment for the annual tuition fee

The payment of the tuition fee may be executed online by using a credit card and connecting to "AlmaWelcome Service!". The AlmaWelcome Service allows to print a payment code which may be settled at any branch of UniCredit Banca. To ask for the payment codes, you may turn to the Secretariat for the teaching activities of the relevant Faculty/School.

To carry out the payments a MAV form (Mandato Avviso Versamento) shall be sent to the address indicated by the student to the University. The MAV form may be settled at any bank or credit institution or through one of the following procedures, using the ID MAV code indicated in the letter:

  1. All enabled ATM points of UniCredit Banca SPA (by clicking on Menu; >altre funzioni">"Pagamenti altri">"MAV-mediante avviso).
  2. "Banca via Internet" of UniCredit Banca (website: http://www.unicreditbanca.it/) for customers or other bank websites offering the same service.
  3. "Banca telefonica" of UniCredit Banca (phone number: 800.57.57.57, mobile and international: +390233408973) for customers.

By following one of these methods of payment, it is necessary  to conserve the receipt of the payment together with the MAV form.

PLEASE NOTE: Even if the MAV form is not sent to and received by the student, the student must pay for the due amount. In case of non-payment, a penalty shall be charged to the instalments.

 

Tuition fee waivers for students of international degree programmes - A.Y. 2012-2013

The University of Bologna offers 118 full or partial tuition fee waivers to students from abroad enrolling in international degree programmes in A.Y. 2012-2013.
