The Research Support System is a system of "cooperative" shared facilities supporting all departments, research structures and the research staff of the University of Bologna.
It comprises the following elements:
- Integrated Research Teams (IRT): interdisciplinary teams of researchers and professors creating critical masses of scientists of the University of Bologna working in wide and common research themes, covering several scientific disciplinary sectors. The objective of these organizations is to increase the value of research results and to promote the effective integration of research activity of the University of Bologna as well as the research team competencies.
- Research Service Centres (CRR): management system for research facilities and services.
- Shared Spaces for Research (SC): research laboratories to be set up for a medium-short term by University research teams in order to conduct funded research projects.
- Joint Research Laboratories (JRL): standard agreements for the development of joint research projects between the University and other public or private entities. JRL final goal is the quick commercial exploitation of research results.
