Researchers holding doctorate degrees can continue their research activity benefiting from study grants awarded by the University. Grants are allocated annually for groups of disciplines and are then awarded to individuals on a competitive basis.
Description
For those who have completed their PhD degree, the University offers study grants of 15,000 euro per annum to continue their work. Grants are awarded for a period of two years. They are subject to confirmation after the first year, and cannot be extended beyond the second.

the closing date for which is 20 July 2007, covers the following disciplines:
- Biological, Geological and Agricultural sciences
- Law, Political Science and Economics
- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
- The Humanities
- Pharmaceutical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine
- Engineering Sciences
Information concerning the competition is given below. However, candidates should also read the competition announcement.
Requirements
- Candidates must hold a PhD research doctorate awarded in Italy or abroad from year 2001 onwards. Candidates having a foreign (non Italian) PhD qualification not acknowledged as equivalent (article 74 of Italian law 382/80), shall apply for equivalence between their PhD qualification and the corresponding Italian academic degree. In this case, applicants shall enclose a translation into Italian of the foreign PhD qualification and a self declaration stating its conformity to the original document.
- Also eligible to participate in the competition (conditionally) are current PhD research students who have completed their coursework and are awaiting only the final exam, provided the qualification is awarded by 30 September 2007.

Notice
Invitations to sit the examination will be sent by registered post not less than ten days before the date set for the examination.
During the period of validity of a grant, grant-holders may be asked to perform limited teaching activities.
Study grants are incompatible with other study grants provided under the same law and with enrolment at Specialisation Schools or for PhD research doctorate courses.
Previous recipients of post-doctoral research grants may not re-apply.
