In recent years, the topic of Equal Opportunities has grown in importance also in Italy thanks to the involvement of national and local, public and private bodies. In this section you can find information concerning initiatives within the University of Bologna to promote equal opportunities through training, information and the organisation of collaboration projects on a European level.

Gender studies and women's studies are of an interdisciplinary nature and deal with critical methodologies and theories of culture, genealogies and transfer of knowledge – from "classic" cultures to "popular" ones – and textual re-reading, from both a teaching and scientific research point of view.
