International Networks

The University of Bologna takes part into a series of international university networks that share the task of promoting cooperative activities in diverse fields and seek to create a European area of communal higher education.

The principal association groups and networks of which the Alma Mater Studiorum is a member are:



Coimbra Group
The Coimbra Group, founded in 1987, is a European multidisciplinary university network at an international level created in order to form academic and cultural bonds and to promote internationalisation and academic collaboration. Moreover, it has as its mission to encourage European education through reciprocal informational exchange and of facilitating academic mobility among the universities.

Collège des Hautes Etudes Européennes "Miguel Servet"
The Collège des hautes études européennes "Miguel Servet", founded in 1993 and based in Paris, is a centre of excellence oriented towards South Europe, the Mediterranean area and Latin America. The College brings together as members renowned universities and institutions from Paris and Southern Europe. The Collège provides through the "DESUP d'Etudes juridiques et économiques de l'Union Européenne" -a postgraduate diploma delivered by the Sorbonne University (Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne)-, a rigorous and intensive academic training in the field of European Union Law, Economics and Political Science which lasts from January to June. This curriculum is open to graduate students in law, economics, international relations or political science, mainly from Southern Europe. A good level of French is required. Students from the University of Bologna who wish to apply for scholarships need to contact the Adas-Postgraduate Studies Office.

CUM - Communities of Mediterranean Universities
The Communities of Mediterranean Universities was founded in 1983 by a consortium of Mediterranean Universities. The principal objective of the consortium is to develop the role and function of culture and scientific and technological research and to promote the scientific cooperation among the universities of the Mediterranean by putting to use the experience and resources of each university.

EUA - European University Association
Created in 2001 as a result of a union between the Association of European Universities (CRE) and the Confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences, the EUA seeks to promote the development of a coherent system of research and European higher education by offering support to its member and encouraging constructive interaction among the individual universities.

Europeaum
Founded in 1992 as an association of European universities, Europeaum encourages the collaboration among the European academic entities in order to promote European studies, secures opportunities to realise European initiatives, and furnish support to European higher education.

IAU - International Association of Universities
The IAU is a global organisation of UNESCO created in 1950. It brings together the institutions and organisations of about 150 countries and collaborates with various national, international and regional organisations that are active in the field of higher education. The association has the objective to promote the principles of liberty and justice, human dignity and solidarity through instruction and research and through international cooperation it contributes to the development and assistance of European higher education.

Utrecht Network
The Utrecht group contains member countries of the EU and of EFTA and a number of countries coming from central Europe. Activated in 1980, the Utrecht Network carries out its activities in the field of internationalisation of higher education by encouraging the mobility of students, instructor exchanges and the realisation of PhDs and Summer Schools.

IFPU - International Forum of Public Universities

The IFPU was founded in Montréal in October 2007 and counts among its memebers many important public Universities from alla over the world. The main aim of this network is to express the values laying beyond the mission of public Universities in the globalized world of today, in terms of economy and culture, by finding new methods of inter-University collaboration in the fileds of education and reserach.

Talloires

The International network "Talloires" gathers Universities which aim at promoting the themes of civic engagement and social responsibility in their institutional activities. Taking part in this newtork represents an important occasion, for all its memeber Universities, to help the social developement of the community where they carry out their mission.

Unimed

The Unimed - Mediterranean Universities Union, was founded in October 1991 under the direction of Rome "La Sapienza" University. It counts more than 70 member Institutions located in Meditarranean countries. The structure of the Network, based on the mutual exchange of human and cultural resources, aims at promoting research and education in the fields of cultural heritage, tourism, environment, economy and technology, thus giving contribution to the developement of Mediterranean countries.

Uniscape

Uniscape, the European network for the realization of the European Convention on Landscape, was founded in 2008. It aims at promoting and developing the mutual and interdisciplinary cooperation among European Universities in research and education related to the theme of landscape. In order to be informed about the activities of the network, Unibo staff and students can log in the official web site www.dsa.unibo.it by using their personal username and password, and select the related list in the "le tue mailing list" section.
