Summer Schools and Winter Schools are a new educational instrument of the University of Bologna. They provide a wide range of intensive courses, designed to meet the need to broaden cultural and interdisciplinary studies.
The courses are directed to students and graduates, and in some cases to professionals. The Summer Schools and Winter Schools courses are a meeting point for international students, who will have the opportunity to attend University lectures held by distinguished teachers and, at the same time, to share cultural and every-day experience. The courses last from one to four weeks. Most of them are held in the city of Bologna inside academic buildings of historical significance. Some others are held elsewhere in the Emilia Romagna region, such as the picturesque medieval town of Bertinoro or the celebrated beach towns of Cervia and Rimini.
In some cases they may also be held abroad. In most courses University credits are provided.
