Introduction
Summer and Winter Schools are a recent but important addition to the University of Bologna's educational spectrum. They are usually structured as intensive courses on many different subjects designed to match new educational and professional needs.
Those interested in attending Summer or Winter Schools at the University of Bologna can choose among in-depth courses in subjects such as Law, Italian History and Culture, Economics, Finance, Archaeology, International Relations and Cooperation, Politics, History, Environmental Studies and more.
The courses are addressed to undergraduates and young graduates from all over the world and, in some cases, to highly skilled professionals. This educational activity is conceived as an academic meeting point for scholars from all over the world. Here students can enrich their knowledge by attending courses held by lecturers of international repute and, at the same time, share a unique cultural experience simply by mixing with peers from all over the world.
Summer and Winter Schools may last from five days to four weeks. Most take place in the University's historical buildings situated in Bologna, but some take place elsewhere in Emilia-Romagna, the region where Bologna is situated. Locations include the medieval town of Bertinoro, as well as the famous seaside resorts of Cervia and Rimini. In some cases attendance of Summer and Winter Schools in Bologna can be rewarded with ECTS credits. Some schools offer grants and scholarships.
In addition to the University of Bologna's own Summer and Winter Schools, a number of schools have been set up in collaboration with partner Universities or institutions to which Bologna students are also admitted. Most of the Summer and Winter schools are taught in English to appeal to a larger number of international students.
