Presentation
The Degree Course in Business Administration is seen as the ideal completion of the preparation acquired by first level graduates of degree courses ascribed to the class of Sciences of Economics and Business Management. This course aims to train professionals who can pursue a career as managers within industrial firms, services and management consultancy firms, as well as within small and medium-sized businesses with a strong propensity for innovation.
The training path is designed to provide advanced skills on the various management aspects needed to cover executive and top-management roles within all business areas, with specific reference to general management, commercial and marketing departments, management control.
The first year’s training path is meant to provide a well-grounded knowledge of the most advanced ideas regarding general management and of the quantitative tools needed for business analysis. The second year’s training path is designed to allow students to select one from a choice of three different groups: one is finalised to develop professional skills and cultural ideas which are more oriented towards marketing. The second is finalised to develop professional skills and cultural ideas which are more oriented towards technology and innovation. The third is focussed on financial and strategic control issues.
The number of the choices available is dependent on the resources available in terms of lecturers and classrooms, as is the number of courses available for each one of the curricula. The curricula and courses stated in the Degree Course regulations must be understood as an targeted objective which could be reached on the basis that there are no limitations whatsoever to the resources available. As a consequence, every year the Degree Course Council may determine the group of disciplines from which students can make their choices from the options allowed by each curriculum.

Learning outcomes
This course is designed to provide an adequate completion to the preparation acquired in the first cycle degree Courses ascribed to the class of Sciences of Economics and Business Management (Class 17) or to the class of Economic Sciences (Class 28). In particular, this second cycle degree Course aims to train graduates possessing the skills to apply their business knowledge to the top management of both single business and multibusiness companies and of their individual functional areas, with a special focus on the areas of commercial, marketing, human resources management and strategic control departments. The training path relies on a strong integration of the core disciplines with an extension to specialised business skills. An emphasis is also placed on the development of managerial knowledge and skills. For this purpose it is strongly advisable to broaden the knowledge of specific business areas along with a holistic outlook on corporate structure and with skills in quantitative techniques in support of the decision-making processes at all management levels.
